GIULIA RANDAZZO
DIRECTOR
about
I began my first steps on stage as actress. In 2006 I experienced my first direction: a study based on Dom Juan by Molière. It was just by chance; I did it for fun, as an experiment. I was twenty and I won the selection at "Fantasio Piccoli"/International Theatre Directing Festival in Naples (Best Director and Audience Choice Winner). I slowly started figuring out which side of the stage I would want to be on.
My training in directing was deeply influenced by pedagogy. I earned a Ph.D. after defending a thesis on Theatre Anthropology and Actor Training. I carried out my research program in Italy, Germany, U.K., France.
In January 2020 I started a new adventure at “Fabbrica”, the Young Artist Program of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. As member of the winning creative team, I supported the staging of Evgenij Onegin (Robert Carsen), Turandot (Ai Weiwei), Rigoletto (Damiano Michieletto).
news and press
